private residence in santa rosa
Following the loss of the original residence to wildfire, this project reimagines a main house and guest house on their existing foundations in the Sonoma County landscape. The approximately 2,200-square-foot main residence and 560-square-foot guest house are designed to work with the site's existing features and landscape, while prioritizing resource-conscious design and healthy, low-impact materials.
The project explores the use of natural and bio-based building materials, including prefabricated straw-insulated exterior wall panels, to create high-performance building envelopes with a reduced environmental footprint.
